Anybody can do a rendition of a Beatles song but the chances of making a successful cover are as slim as a high E guitar string. For P2499 instead of P3170, let Roberta Flack show you how it’s done.

With her new CD, “Let it Be” (Sony/ATV), the legendary songstress pays homage to the iconic foursome with very unique spins on some of their biggest hits. According to her, this project was prompted by the inspiration which the band’s sincere right-on-the-money music has sparked in her. However, she is adamant that some of the songs are almost unrecognizable thanks to innovative arrangements and new-fangled rhythms.

Flack, best-known for her singles "Killing Me Softly with His Song" and "Feel Like Makin' Love", as well as "Where Is the Love" and "The Closer I Get to You," remains unparalleled in her ability to tell a story through her music. Her songs bring insight into our lives, loves, culture and politics, while effortlessly traversing a broad musical landscape from pop to soul to folk to jazz.
On August 16, Roberta will hark back to Beatlemania by performing “Hey Jude,” “I Should Have Known Better,” “Come Together,” and other singles originally from the band’s widely influential albums like Revolver (1966) and Abbey Road (1969). Today’s Metrodeal is your chance to view the concert from the Bronze section of the PICC Plenary Hall. Don’t miss out and enjoy the magic of this night.
